How is it going to make any sort of difference whether a piece of some pizza bread ends up in a landfill vs. getting eaten and shit out into the sewage system? There is no functional difference except maybe the person who forced himself to eat a bunch of crust might have slightly less comfortable bowel movements later on. It's not any less "wasted" whether someone eats it or not. There isn't some emergency crust shortage and more bread gets trashed by businesses on a routine basis than anyone can even properly conceptualize the scale of.
