I recommend mung beans. Boiled until it comes to a porridge like consistency, simply seasoned with sea salt, and eaten with rice. Really cheap and satisfying and nutritious.

Garbanzo bean and it's not even fucking close. No bean compares with the chickpea's combined versatility, flavor, and simplicity. Let me give you a few good (indisputable) reasons:
>You can eat them raw or cooked.
>You can turn them into delicious salads, hot dishes, sauces and soups.
>Every 100g of cooked beans has ~9g protein and 160 kcal
>They're cheap
Think of all the cultures that eat chickpeas: central asian, middle eastern, mediterranean, indian... You will NEVER run out of interesting chickpea dishes to try. Garbanzo beans rock so god damn hard I am frankly unsure why this thread needed to be made. Big (and only) asterisk to all this: if you eat dessert hummus, you are probably fat and American and you have poor taste.
Kidney/Adzuki/Butter beans are runners up. Anyone in this thread that says black-eyed peas or soi (lol) beans are good are retarded.
