It torments me to no end that you can not find decent savory pies in the states. Grocery stores have higher end versions of a lot of things but not those.

I remember these abominations mom used to buy. It was literally a covering of pastry on top and... That was it. It was a cap of pastry stretched across the top. Underneath was just watery chicken stuff surrounded by foil.

Americans have like trauma of eating this shit and that's why savory pies put us off. 'they're supposed to be the cheapest of the cheap' so that's how they are made and sold. Ghetto-tier poverty food for the lowest of the lows who can't even budget Hot Pockets. Of course having access to international markets I have actually eaten the good ones. I know they are amazing. But because something-something economics nobody makes anything close here.

sounds lovely. mine pretty much only serves pies, the steak and red wine is their magnum opus imo. they do some killer chips with them though, you can drown those things in gravy and they'll stay crispy by some miracle.
