Is it really that impressive that I, a 30 year old man who lives alone, is able to cook healthy meals for himself every night of the week? Upon discussing this with various peers on separate occasions, they've given me the impression that this is some sort of amazing feat.

These people seem to only eat out or get delivery. In addition they have no concept of nutrition, like they think breaded and deep-fried chicken "meat" is somehow healthy and counts as a protein. I am very confused. This is Canada btw.

To me, being able to cook a nutritious complete meal is a fundamental life skill and shouldn't be something that other people are amazed at. Am I alone in this?

The average adult is borderline retarded. Kids are probably even dumber. People are always absolutely amazed when I cook the most basic shit.

What it says to me is that you don't have much of a social life. I think it's "impressive" or at least unique, because as someone in your relative age range, I struggle to do something like this because my ingredients spoil, I get tired of eating the same ingredients slightly rearranged, going out means I'm wasting food... etc.

If I was living with someone, the food fatigue wouldn't set in so bad, and the ingredients would be consumed faster so we could mix it up and not let them spoil.

Anyways, I'm not that great of a cook anyways, and I don't think cooking a meal is a fundamental life skill. There should be some minor cooking things you can accomplish, like boiling water or scrambling an egg or something, but not much more.

it's called socializing, building up your networks and adding value to your personal brand
every dollar you "lose" eating lunch at restaurants with other people will come back to you with huge interest, there's really no easier way of making profit unless you are ugly and smell bad
