Working for a federal agency is always a fucking shitshow, you won't get paid much and the corruption/incompetence is unbelievable.
That said, I absolutely love what I do from day to day. I get paid to drive and hike in the woods. Today I picked a pound of morels on the clock while also accomplishing my task for the day. It's fun enough that it makes the bad parts worth it.

Different forestry worker here.
You will work with convicts and other criminals, and your life will constantly be at jeapordy because people will operate machinery while high and forget the controls (I've seen loads from a digger dumped directly on the operator for another machine, rather than the bucket).
90% of deaths in forestry are due to somebody else fucking around and you being the unlucky victim.
Your things will get stolen (you better buy one of those absurdly heavy tool cases for your truck).
It can be fun, but if you're white and not retarded, you will be doing two or three jobs while babysitting a bunch of criminals.
