Figure it out.’ That’s all I really needed. By the way, if you raised (the price) to $1.75, it would not be that big of a deal. People would still buy (it). You can essentially eat for free in America. Although you 're not going to be eating very well.
There's all kinds of soup kitchens, and free pantries you can go to. If you're under a certain income bracket you can also get EBT which is basically a credit card where you get like 500$ a month for food. Can only be spent on food though.

A poor person could get away with spending less than 50$ on food a month, and eat like a king.

No. This is not the norm. This is Costco. A membership is required to shop there. In turn their products consist almost entirely of bulk items, (the likes of which most other supercenters don't carry) for criminally low prices. They also have a confectionary, where one can sit down and eat before, during, or after shopping there. They profit almost entirely off of membership dues.

>> No.17847681

>Is food in america really THIS cheap?
Yes. That price is subsidized by the fact you drove to your local Costco where you have an annual membership, and your large SUV trunk space, and will spend the minimum of probably $200 or more while there, and fill up your gas tank. It's an alternative reality to be in the top 15% demographic financially, which is what makes it so special. = to get a snack
Also in Florida, by law, the warehouse stores with memberships have external liquor stores where you don't need to be a member to get the discount prices. Anyone can shop there.

No. Costco hot dogs are a loss leader.

>> No.17848873

I love Costco but I can't go anymore because the two within driving distance are staffed almost exclusively by you know who's. I have gone there at least 10 times in the last year and every single time I order the same thing. A hot dog with extra grilled onions. At least 8 of those times I didn't get extra onions and 3 times I got no onions at all. I usually just sighed and ate the damn thing because I used to work in fast food and I know how it can be sometimes.

But eventually I couldn't take it anymore, I checked this time right after they handed it to me and there were 5 little pieces of onion on the whole thing. I got so mad I went and asked for my money back. I didn't yell or make a scene because I am a civilized person but I told them clearly that this happened most times I ordered and clearly something is not being communicated or the person making the food doesn't understand the orders.

While I was waiting for them to get a manager to get my refund an old black worker who was cleaning came up and told me he was sorry. He said they have kids working in the back and they won't listen to anyone he was sick of them. The place just isn't the same after they got bought out. Used to be ran by the nicest people but it just isn't worth it anymore I'll make my own damn hot dog. This isn't fucking pasta this really happened I hate everything, every place that used to be halfway decent is shit now and its 90% because of the staff that doesn't give a single god damn fuck. I could tell you so many stories about the bullshit I've seen working in fast food. It wasn't like this 30 years ago when I had my first job. People used to have a little bit of respect and work ethic. Not anymore.

Myth. The product is just dirt cheap in the first place due to Costco's style of buying out local supply chains. Same deal with their rotisserie chicken: they literally buy out domestic farms wherever they set up shop to cut costs.

Didn't stop the Polish from getting the axe when his advisors convinced him to push for yuppie bux though.

It's like banking bread, in that it takes way too long to prepare, the ingredients are so specific, and you're never eating more than a bowl once a week unless you're a fat fuck.
if you actually live in Canada you're always 50ft from a place that sells decent poutine so where the fuck do you live where only a few restaurants "get it right". Don't come at me with the "authentic Montreal poutine". I can find good shit in any pizza chain or even shawarma chains.

Fast food is never cheaper than cooking it yourself. Even something like McDonald's where a hamburger is $1, keep in mind that it's only a 1/8 lb. of beef and that a whole pound of ground beef is like $4 for 80/20 or 70/30. You are paying for convenience. If you fortify the meal with cheap starches like potatoes (like McDonalds) or rice the price per serving gets even lower.

We are entering the cave. Think back to 2008 and how it took half a decade to recover.
Retail just got shoah'd and it's been the stable staple of the last couple years. Look at Target. If you're brave, check the aftermarket.

This isn't a random crypto-tier nuking. The bottom just fell out. You're not grabbing a falling knife, you're jumping into an empty elevator shaft.

wait are you saying stock prices go down sometimes

Stocks will keep going down at least until they start going up again. We will know for sure when that happens because price changes will switch from a downward direction to an upward direction. One of the indicators that we can use to determine the timing of this change is that we will start to see stock prices rising instead of falling. That will tell us when the direction of stocks has changed from moving down to moving up. Once we know for sure that stocks are predominantly going upward, we can observe that they will mostly not be going downward. This observation will tell us that on average during that time, a given stock will rise instead of fall. This means that the price of such a stock would likely to be going up, and would unlikely to be going down. However, depending on the circumstanes, the stock might not move upward, and would instead move downward. In such a case, the value of an investor's holdings of that stock would not be rising, and would instead be falling. This is not optimal, as one of the goals of investing is for the value of holdings to go up, and not to go down. Investors prefer to invest in stocks with prices that have an upward direction, and not stocks with a downward direction. Investors that mostly invest in such stocks can expect to see the overall values of their portfolios rise instead of fall. This means that the prices of the stocks within those portfolios are, on average, going up and not going down. Thus, individual stocks may have their own trajectory, but the general direction would be upward instead of downward. In fact, if a stock's price is changing, then that means it is either rising or falling.

-10% or more in a day is an industry death knell. Some retail stocks almost crashed -25%. Anyone who was heavy in retail just had their net worth bruised and beaten with zero apology.
