The main misconception is that it's insanely *hot*, which isn't really the same thing as "spicy"...
It really isnt typically that hot as far as intensity goes, but it is spicy in a way that uses lots of layers of flavorful spice that adds warmth, zing, pep, tang, pungency, snap, etc. that builds fairly slowly so it's not shocking or blistering aggressive. When it does get hot it's usually more
of a bite or sting that isnt the main component and is well balanced with other flavors...the kind of heat you dont notice until you are fully invested and used to it and don't care.
