I only put it on shrimp tacos. It's kind of nasty on most other stuff. Not everything but it's just not my favorite sauce.

Perfectly fine for mexican. No reason not to have a bottle laying around somewhere if you make that kind of thing.

It's glorified ketchup. Good flavor, but no spice at all really. Get Tapatio.

Not that hot but pretty tasty and fairly versatile. Useful for dishes where you want a bit of extra life, not useful if you want an explosion in your mouth and ass

It's a bit expensive for a basic hot sauce, but I like it every now and then.

This one mexican dude ran a ice cream truck when I was in middle school. He would sell takis and turbos covered in some really tasty shit. I think either this stuff or tapatio was a part of the recipe. So yeah, I'd say its good.

No. Out of the widely sold basic sauces, get guacamaya and huichol instead of cholula.
also get lesser known good sauces for variety of flavor, like the arizona pepper’s organic harvest chipotle habanero sauce.

The only good thing about cholula is its name. It’s the name of a town that used to be the second largest nahuatl city ally of the aztecs that is now overshadowed by the city of Puebla, which was a colonial capital built by the Spaniards intentionally nearby as a way point between the coast and Mexico City. The people of cholula vandalize the statue of cortez in the town square in the present, because he conquered the city by accepting an invitation to feast by the heads of the city, ordered his men not to get drunk, and then sealed the drunk cholula bigwigs in the dining hall and slaughtered them. The church built on the hill at cholula was built atop what was is the great pyramid of cholula, the largest pyramid by volume in the world, where of course ritual human sacrifice was practiced, but which was covered up by the Spanish. The pyramid was built on an earlier pyramid and has been around since the BCE era. In preaztec times it was a massive religious center for the region. its a pretty shitty hot sauce.

Thickener/stabilizer helps achieve batch consistency and prevent separation, but some people prefer more natural alternatives.

But also less "harsh", with a well-rounded warmth despite having 0 sugar, and a little thicker which is nice for things like wings & pizza.

Plus, the round wooden cap makes the bottle ideal for cramming.
