looking for a different brand thats basically the same. im sick and tired of buying a jar just to find its rancid 50% of the time.

I've never opened a rancid jar of this stuff and I've probably purchased at least a hundred over the past few years. Where are you buying it from? Maybe go to a more reliable shop. My local asian market doesn't sell rancid food.

What do you use this stuff for?

THANK YOU! I've been looking for this for a while now. I couldn't remember the name of it, only the style of the bottle but I had it once before and it was amazing. Have only been able to find the OP pic since, but now I can look this up again.

usually its quite dense with chili flakes but the jar i had was mostly oil with large chewy chili flakes instead of the usual small crispy stuff, also tasted very funny

I believe it, I went to college in flyover country and asian stores were musty, depressing places with a lot of expired goods.

Ever notice how 4chins flyovers think the only races are white and "muh niggers"? There just isn't enough demand for foods other than mayonnaise and boneless skinless chicken breast in the midwest. Hence why something as ordinary as a salad is considered a pretentious luxury food. All they eat is the same 3 things for 55 years until they expire from heart disease.

you've been posting this a lot. lao gan ma is a top 10 most popular condiment in the world, this is some obscure bullshit, who's getting paid here?
"how much are you getting paid to promote heins ketchup? anyways here's some hotsauce this guy named dave made in his basement in mississipi"

Why the fuck would there be an Asian store in a place where nobody buys it, to the point their stock goes bad?
Big brain larp you got there

A store like that costs next to nothing to run when land is worthless and the locals think taxes are gommunism. If you're running the only asian store in 500 miles you can just sit on your ass and sell to the 3 asian families and 40 or so weebs and still turn a profit

I used to live in Ohio, and can second this. The stores were generally around universities where there are a few Asian graduate students. They were mom and pop places that carried a few cans of just about everything and a pile of random crap from China. Proto-weebs would go there to get pirated anime VHS tapes.
