Stupid question about sourdough starter, when storing it in the fridge can you seal the lid of the jar it's in? I know when making it you're supposed to only cover it to let gases escape, but when it's in the fridge not doing much would it be fine to shut it, opening it every couple of days to vent it?

Should be fine to leave covered if you gas it every once in a while.
I just poked a hole in my lid and called it a day

i just pulled mine out of the fridge after two weeks with the lid closed on a jar/lid just like that.
its just a metal lid with no seal on it, not like a mason jar. i didnt tighten it down too hard and it was fine
