Just ask for a menu, they always have them. I don't have a smartphone so I've always gotta ask

>they have QR codes everywhere, not a paper menu in sight
>relative left their phone in the car, said they didn't have one to scan the code with, and asked for a menu
>here, we can lend you a tablet
>waitress literally brings over a tablet in a fuckhuge OtterBox style case with at least 2 obviously visible trackers on it

this is a place whose prices average $5-15 too, it's getting retarded in some places

Nope.exe, I say this as someone who is in InfoSec.
>wooden QR code that redirects to the restaurant's website for their PDF menu
How fucking hipster can you be to have this sign made?

Sure, that's not good. But they've also posted it openly and publicly for everyone to see. A strong, hard-to-guess password would be no better in those circumstances.

If you're referring to >>17755965, I should have specified that they still made my relative scan the QR code, but had them use the village(restaurant) tablet to do so. i can't fathom how they deal with breakfast, because it's a very popular spot for 65+ folks. more tablets?

Oh, you're easily correct. It shocks me how people use public wi-fi hotspots without any thought regarding privacy and security.
Pre-China Coof, my buddy opened up a coffee shop and wanted me to set up his internet. He gave me a smallish budget and some basic requests. I had Verizon Fios, the only thing available in the area, establish two business lines:
1) the first connection for the store's financial transactions, data backups of security cam footage, and some other sensitive items. Nothing too crazy as it was a 300/300 Mbps plan.
2) a second connection for the shop's public wi-fi with two repeaters to cover the seating area and patio. This was a 100/100 Mbps plan for patrons and employees to use. I configured the router to disable the majority of unnecessary features and some ports. Also made it where porn sites cannot be accessed and torrenting wouldn't work. Lastly, I set up some rules to throttle streaming services such as Netflix, Youtube, Twitch, etc.
I was easily under the budget issued and my buddy loved it as there were no complaints by patrons or employees. The password was simple and I showed him how he could change it manually. Years later, the SSID still has what I set it as "C0FF33".

Some third world countries like China has already done away with paper menus entirely and gone completely digital. It's inevitable and especially with COVID and inflation, it's easier to change prices on the fly instead of whiting out and putting in new prices.

Started out as a service desk grunt and became friends with the guys that worked within the InfoSec department. Over the years, they had me work on their projects and tasks as they saw I had a knack for the assignments. When an opening was finally made available in the department, they told me to apply.
I only had an associate's degree when I joined but all these years later I've had the company pay for all kinds of different certs and training.
The old saying of "it's who you know" really does exist in business. Also, establish a LinkedIn profile and attempt to network with people inside a company regardless of your position. As that is how I got to know everyone.

China for the most part, as long as there is digital infrastructure, paper menus are gone and that goes for even 2nd tier cities equivalent to the US's Rust Belt smaller cities.
