Why do frozen dinners have to taste so bad? It’s a goldmine chance to attract people now if they improve things

>> No.17702053

you have to cook it yourself and you can't cook

Drink more, if you are hammered they will taste at least 65 percent better than if you are sober.
This is known and a fact.

>> No.17702074

I assume it's not as simple as cooking some regular food and then throwing it in a flash freezer.
You probably have to treat it a certain way to make it withstand freezing for very long periods of time, and probably thawing out a couple times along the way in the truck, the grocery store, in your car, and in your freezer when it cycles on and off.

>> No.17702076

That's why they're frozen dinners nigger, they are designed to withstand the journey, then years on a shelf. A filet mignon would decay after that. What the hell do you think some chicken breast breaded in scrap crumbs and MSG will do?

These are extremely good. Especially if you add your own cayenne pepper, garlic/onion powder, paprika, and maybe a dash of tumeric. I love these.

I've been making a homemade version of buffalo chicken mac and cheese meals after having them a few times, it's a good idea

I don't buy the Devour ones even though they look good cause the commercials were gay and annoying

Forgot to mention, a dash of pepper. And if you have any spare shredded chicken just throw in a bit too. Might sound like a lot but its minimal work to improve an already good frozen meal.

Your taste is skewed. Starve yourself for two days, and then consume any TV dinner. You will find it tastes really good, even though compared to any other meal it's awful. Truth is that TV dinners don't taste bad, you're just a first worlder who forgot he isn't forced to eat mud pies or ration rice. God bless the U S of A.

Had this frozen lo mein. Tasted like actual real food to some extent and was good and hearty. The brand and box looked similar to picrel but I don’t think it’s the same brand. Got it from Walmart I think

Hungry Man pisses me off. They used to have those boxes which were beer battered chicken with potato wedges covered in cheese. Just that. It's the only frozen dinner I ever liked. And then they decided to "rebrand" and it became a "Hungry Man Selects" which isn't sold fucking anywhere near where I live. Other than that, every single Hungry Man frozen dinner has at least one of those:

>mashed potatoes
>corn
>green beans

All of which taste fucking terrible. Give me back my beer battered chicken and cheese potatoes you fucking assholes! WHY DON'T YOU WANT MY MONEY?

Most people who eat frezen dinners don't care a lot about how it tastes, they care about price and convenience. Improving the taste would increase costs, which would lose them customers. The customer base that cares about taste generally won't buy frozen dinners anyway.

>Why do frozen dinners have to taste so bad?
Government intervention, 40 years ago TV dinners tasted like a piece of heaven, but then the government came in and regulated the use of seasonings and calorie limits, so now you have to make do with a pinch of salt for every ten pounds of of TV dinner, no more spices (because pepper contains TOXIC DANGEORUS CHEMICALS THAT WILL LITERALLY ALTER YOUR GENOME apparently) and keep one dinner at 800 calories or less, so no more fatty, flavorful meat.

>> No.17703480

that hungryman is actually pretty good if you put it in the oven instead of microwaving it. hot pockets are also not bad for frozen food.

>> No.17703542

honestly dont bother with TV dinners if you're gonna eat frozen food. just buy individual things you like instead. want some potatoes, chicken, and a vegetable? cool, that's like $25 for a weeks worth at Wally World.

Used to chow on these when I had classes after work. The better ones are things that can stand being frozen and reheated like meatloaf or pulled pork. Expecting microwaved fried chicken to be crispy is expecting the impossible.

There are plenty of okay frozen dinners. Back when I was doing the full blown NEET lifestyle I regularly ate these iglo dinners which are pretty damned good for frozen crap in a bag. But if you're going to make the effort of heating it up, you might as well spend the 5-10 extra minutes and make a simple fresh meal.

the shitty neighborhood market walmart by me sells these still, and I see them at publix every now and again. sometimes I'll grab 3 or 4 of them to throw into the deep freezer and I pull one out every so often on a night where I get drunk/stoned. takes like 65 minutes in my oven to cook so I'll smoke or whatever then speed clean my house, do a few dishes then once the place is clean the food should be about done so then I take it out and eat in the living room watching youtube or something and it makes for a nice comfy night in. I also throw a bit of extra cheese on the potatoes and some salt and it's fucking killer for a shitty freezer meal.
