I am from Georgia, and we eat buttermilk pie here. My uncle is from Texas and grew up on chess pie, which is very similar but slightly different in execution Its really just slight regional variations

Nothing is set in stone, but I and many consider buttermilk to be a subsection of chess pies. A square vs rectangle.

Chess pie is a type of custard pie. Eggs, butter, sugar, and milk. It's very similar to a lemon curd pie. One of the more commonly encountered flavors of chess pie is actually a lemon chess pie. If you've ever had any type of custard pie, you'll know what to expect with a chess pie.

Wtf I didn't know ck was so full of yankees. Try to imagine solidified syrup, with more of a straight sugar taste. It's probably the most basic form of pie. You can make it in different flavors. My favorite is chocolate, which is usually never my flavor of choice but it really shines as a chess pie.

Okay it is somewhat fibrous, it's not like straight up jelly. It's very damn good except it's liable to be too sweet for some. Usually I'm not a fan of that myself but with chess pie it works great.

To me, a mango is fibrous because of literal fibers in the fruit that are attached to the seed
