what makes you think it feed that makes yolk darker, automatically better. they know most people belive this, which is why they go for color rather than healthy

>> No.17684949

>>17684898
the yellow one is most likely from a factory farm, the orange one might be from a hen that's fed something proper, the darkest egg might also be something fed proper, but it could have been fed feed with high levels of carotenoids

in my experience, the yellow egg looks like cheap walmart eggs, the orange one looks like pastured eggs and the red one looks like an egg raised in japan

you can't really tell just by color, but it's a very good indicator of what the chicken was fed, the darker color can come from pastured chickens who've eaten plenty of bugs, grass and wild seeds which would be the healthiest option, but dark yolks can be faked by feeding them garbage feed mixed with veggies like carrots and bell peppers, while some are fed good feeds with exotic ingredients like saffron, but this is pretty much only a japan thing

You always have the choice to spend a little more and get a better product. Only poorfags buy the Walmart-grade garbage. Even people in the lower middle class can afford the better shit.

1 is either a very well fed chicken or just beta carotene feed. It's also the least fresh (alblumen).
2 is a relatively fresh factory egg
3 is a fresh decent quality feed supermarket egg.

This, my grandparents chicken graze and ate fed raw milk cheese rinds and the eggs can't be beat.

>> No.17685272

>>17685043
No he's right. The color really doesn't effect the taste. I raise pasture raised poultry and while they give me delicious eggs the yolks vary in color. The countryside eggs from the small producer will taste better because the birds get more vitamin D exposure and access to forage but ultimately the color makes no difference. You can give a cafo bird enough marigold extract or paprika and it will give you plenty vibrant eggs

>> No.17685301

>>17685272
Sure, but you're still implicitly affirming that natural eggs are orange in color whereas factory-farm eggs are yellow in color under normal circumstances. Same as the practice of dying factory-farmed salmon pink versus wild-caught salmon being naturally pink.

of course I tried them lol. I don't trust the "bio eco" ones. middle price ones are ok-ish. the worst eggs I've tried were probably in france (along with meat, cheese, and everything else). Fair enough, I probably got the cheapest ones, but those are the ones I hate the most, light yolk, weird whites, plastic-y taste, unedible, useful only for cooking.

>>17685272
fair yeah I get the point, color is not end all be all but also>>17685301
what anon said

what I find funniest is how fucking easy it is to raise chickens for eggs. it's probably the simplest thing you can do, and the total cost is incredibly low, but of course capitalism had to go and fuck up even this farming staple, like it fucks up everything it touches. this is what I have a problem with. I'd rather not eat eggs at all than eat the plasticky ones. I only ever eat eggs sunny side up anyways.and that requires good eggs. it's hard enough to make them perfect anyway (runny yolk but no slime on top, crunchy whites on the bottom).

all of them

every couple of weeks we have this thread.

egg producers in every country (and even in local regions) carefully control the diet of their chickens in order to get the color of eggs that the locals expect. they do this by adding or limiting the amount of beta carotene in the chicken feed. THAT'S IT THAT'S ALL!

In some countries they expect blood red eggs, in other countries everyone thinks a yellow or orange egg is a sign of icky chemicals and won't eat them so they make egg yolks that are white.

here in the US people expect yellow to orange and that's what they get.
