I don't think they sell non veal beef over here, at least not openly. We only eat veal over here, even the poorfags. Well now that I think about it there's one "gorumette" cut that is non veal though, for thick steaks. But everything else is veal.

I think its weird that people who eat chicken get upset about people eating veal or lamb. Broilers are 7 weeks old, they are big but are still babies. Lamb can be anything under a year old, I have seen lambs that are over 300 lbs. Same with veal.

And of course that's not getting into rennet.

thats bullshit, lamb/mutton as a meat is common in the uk, ireland and france. its just the cotton industry destroyed the wool industry so the meat has become extremely expensive compared to beef/pork/chicken. wool used to be a massive money maker but now its so worthless it isnt even worth sheering the sheep except they'd all die from heat exhaustion during summer

What does "basically uncommon" mean to you? Look up the sheep or goat consuption/production in those countries and you will notice it's relatively small compared to other meats like pigs, cows, poultry etc. Then look up the Balkan (Greece and Romania together with Spain produce the vast majority of sheep and goat meat in Europe).
Also compare the number of dishes to more common meats. That says enough about popularity.

>> No.17620719

>>17620673
>"basically uncommon"
not available in every supermarket meat section. again its not about popularity its price. goat is uncommon here in the uk, duck maybe there's breast in some supermarkets, venison you'll have to find a butcher same with pheasant. lamb on the other hand always has its own section next to beef and pork. there's even a news story from a few years back about the US ambassador to the UK complaining about how everyone only eat lamb, that was because he was a guest around peoples homes and lamb is seen as fancy, so they were showing off vs getting the standard roast beef joint

>> No.17620814

Here in Germany mutton and sheep are considered trash tier meat. Even lamb is unpopular (most common dishes are probably easter lamb, navarrobut i still can get it in almost all supermarkets. Although it's mostly carré. Still no fancy cuts like you have with beef or pork. You have to go to some Turkish/Arabic shops for those.
Duck can be found as whole birds, breasts or in bigger supermarkets legs. Game is kinda dependend on season. In off season it's often just steak cuts or frozen roasts while in season you can get a wider variety of cuts and meats.
For veal it's similar, because it's pretty expensive and people never buy it unless it's on sale. If you want no prime cut you always have to order it from butchers and then those are still very expensive.

A chicken can survive with its head cut off for an alarming amount of time, its barely alive to begin with. I've gone through phases where I've stopped eating farm mammals but I always come back to it. I would say my protein in take is mostly poultry and fish.

If there was a venison farm near me I'd eat that all day though. I have no compassion for deer.

Sheep are way dumber than cows. Like on the level of fish if not less. Cattle are smart and friendly and I love them. Used to lay out in the field and sleep against them while they chewed their cud and they would lay there until I got up. Such loving animals.

How common is lamb/mutton/sheep in christian Balkan countries? I know it's used there still more often than in western countries but there's no way it's cheaper than pork.
All the recipes say that you have to use lamb in recipes, because it's the traditional choice, but people often say it's used rarely cause of the high price.
