what's /ck/s opinion on Tasting menus?
My sister took me to a restaurant, it was £85 and it was some of the best food I've ever had.

I think they're cool, especially if you get the pairing and get sloshed

Breddy gud deal for including wine.

I've never been to one but I want to someday. Normalfag restaurants lost their appeal when I learned to cook. "You pay for the ambiance, service, and not having to clean the dishes" BULLSHIT. Lazy dumb millennial scum don't know how to take care of themselves and are bad with money, that's all there is to it. Tasting menus, on the other hand, are something totally impractical without a professional kitchen cooking for you.

Here's a picture of the lobster, pigs head Yuzu. It was so good. The mixing of tastes really caught me off guard, the sharp acidity followed by the creamy butterness and melloness of the lobster really melded well.

Maybe for something for something like a steak or hamburger you are right.

However with ethnic food I usually find it much easier to go to a restaurant instead.

I agree. I was born in KL and I can only find good Malaysian food in restaurants since I suck at cooking Malaysian food without help.

My work in sales pays for alot of these type of meals, cuz it traps the customer into sitting with you for 3 hours, and I always have to stop by mcdonalds for some real food afterwards.

You've not seen anything. This is truffel on artichoke and with koji foam. It's pretensions but well worth it. It's an experience. I've never experienced tastes like it before.

>>17532333
Damn I've got to get into sales. I currently work in PMO and get pretty low pay despite working for a major british bank. I did still feel hungry afterwards.

>>17531259
As anon says it's 3 hours of food and drink. Most people spend £85 in about 2 hours on shit booze.

It's fucking great OP. Glad you enjoyed it.

This was by far the best ice cream sandwhich I had, a light oaky taste with the ceramist and fruitiest blueberries I've had. Literally tastes better than sex.

the problem with these tiny tasting menus is like bitches just liking the tip... you get all excited and then no satisfaction and you leave the restaurant with blue balls.

I had a 12 or so course tasting menu a few years back with a colleague. Most courses came with an accompanying alcohol.
The bill for her and myself after tax and “automatic gratuity” was about $600. Luckily it was an expense, so not my problem.
Some of the courses were weird quasi-haute stuff, but mostly good.
