Hey /ck/ I'm in a bit of a bind. I tried defrosting ground hamburger by soaking it in warm water. It worked quickly but now I have a wet burger slurry to deal with. My goal is to make meatloaf. What can I do to dry my meat?

what I usually do but sometimes things don't go as planned

When I thaw manually I usually microwave it and shave the meat off every minute or two until the remaining chunk is small enough to break/cut apart, then roast at highest heat in the pan. Still ends up a bit watery but best I can do

Wouldn't work with OPs meatloaf though obviously

Alright guys OP here, I've just noticed I have another issue. I took out a stick of butter to soften and I placed it on top of the stove. I forgot about it before I baked the meatloaf and the still folded wrapper is now empty. It appears the butter completely melted from the heat of the stove and dripped behind my stove. Now I'm going to have to move my entire stove to clean this mess.

jesus christ.
first off, use a fucking bag for mince.
second, when defrosting via water you use COLD WATER not warm water because using warm water can bring parts of the defrosting item up to too high a temperature, inducing bacterial growth.
third, when defrosting with COLD WATER, you change the water after a maximum of 15 minutes, preferably 10.
fourth, it's far better to defrost something slowly by putting in the fridge overnight.
