have you ever drank angostura bitters straight?
I've got basically no money until my next pay and decided I want a few drinks and its actually pretty good. Would recommend

OP here. I've drank and eaten worse things to get drunk/high, angostura isn't shit to me. Went down like water, I'm not joking. I found it easier to drink than normal liquor.

The big issue is that after a certain consumption point, one of the ingredients in Angostura will give you the runs - it's the same thing with drinking too much Fernet Branca.

I've known people who will drink a shot of bitters and fill the glass with club soda/mineral water then a squeeze of lime. Good way to get buzzed for cheap since most bars won't know how to charge you.

Yeah of course, I try everything straight. I've also drank it mixed with water as a kind of flavoured drink 'cause my dad knows I love bitters and he thought I might like it without alcohol while I do essays.

Not straight but I've been in a similar situation.
Dig up a couple loose coins from behind your couch, haul ass to the grocery store and get as much of the cheapest brand of energy drink plus bottle of lemon concentrate (those bright yellow things, image related) you can get. Use a mix of experience and googling to get this as cold as you can without exploding.

Three squeezes of concentrate into pre-chilled glass.
Mix with two shot's worth of bitters.
Top with energy drink.
Serve with plastic straw. This is a drink for slurping not sipping.
Voila. Poverty cocktail done smooth.

Fernet is the best hair of the dog. I've also never had a hangover from it. Great stuff.
