Why do people spread such lies about pasta?
>You need to cook in a giant pot with a huge amount of water!
Oh wait no you can easily cook 250g of pasta in like 1.5L of water.
>You have to salt the water... OR ELSE!! JUST DO IT!!
Oh wait, you don't have to salt the water at all, it literally does not matter once the pasta touches sauce.

Why do people act like this cheap, simplistic peasant food is some kind of sacred cow that must always be treated with obsequious propitiation and ritual?

the lie that I hate the most is that putting olive oil in the water makes the sauce not stick to the pasta, when it is literally only used to keep the water from boiling over when the starches start being released. the tiny bit of oil is the first part of the pasta water that goes when you dump the pasta into the colander.

pasta cooks better with as much water as possible so the temperature doesn't drop when you drop it in. also pasta is bland and even when you go back to medieval recipes pasta was meant to be cooked in sea water.

no, you don't have to do any of these things to accomplish a boiled pasta, but you definitely should

salt only makes the water boil faster, and back in the day they boiled seawater if they were on the coasts, because using the public well was a good place to get ambushed if you were from an opposing non-aligned family. I got some pasta tips for you fucc niggas:
>you don't need the water to be boiling for the pasta to start cooking
It starts cooking at like 76°c according to tests done by J Kenji Lopez Alt, so if the water is past that point you're good, will save you some time
>you don't need the whole pot to be full of water
Just keep everything submerged below the water line and you're good, it's great for like pennes or rigatonis and whatnot, also helps with making the water more starchy for the sauce and you won't need to use as much salt

Not adding salt to pasta is the same as not adding salt to pizza dough. You can make the sauce and other toppings as salty as you want, the bread will still taste bland and you'll notice that. Because food is made up of separate parts, not some homogenous mush.

Because a lot of home Italian recipes are simple as fuck recipes passed down from family and have like 2-3 high quality ingredients with pasta shapes that "pair" well with the ingredients
