Got myself a hand grinder (pic rel) and a steel french press as I'm currently moving places every year. Honestly I have a bit of trouble figuring our the "right" coarseness. I know immersion brewing is more forgiving than percolation but I feel like I had a couple of really nice cups at different strengths with the same bean to water ratio and comparable brew times. How to I go about estimating the grind size so I can compare it to anything else?
