What suggestions does /ck/ have if you want something "carb-like" to eat instead of actual carbs? I don't plan on going full autism and rejecting all carbs from my diet, but maybe cutting half the pasta from a dish and replacing it with some broccoli instead.

Cauliflower is better than broc, also fried eggplant. But yeah, carbs are also great for gains if they aren't heavily processed garbage. People didn't win wars eating hardtack because bread is bad for you.

Wtf is carb like? Imo carb free bread and shit isn't worth it. Just add more veggies and look for sneaky carbs like with Starbucks. I do low carb protein shakes with coffee and cocoa

Mayo butter peanut butter olive oil, no to seed oils (or palm oil for the orangutans). Ketchup with little to no added sugar and very little fruit if any. Cream cheese. No to wheat flour, so fried chicken is out unless it's tallow or almond/coconut flour.

Try spiralized zucchini instead of noodles one day for spaghetti. It's way better than the regular noodles.

Just eat fiber, protein-rich carbs such as legumes and oats.

>> No.17456582

carbs help muscle building. You just need to make sure you're eating enough protein and not eating too many empty carbs. Switch to whole grain when you can, limit added sugar, but as long as you're within calorie range I don't see why you'd have to cut out carbs. Idk if you're trying to lose weight but if you are yeah what I would do was cut my carb portion by 1/3 to 1/2 and replace that with protein/vegetables. Also fruit is good for you don't listen to that guy

What exactly are "empty carbs"? Carbs that are mostly sugar and don't contain a lot of vitamin or fiber?

Carbs are shit tier for losing weight since the simple shit prevents you from actually consuming your own fat stores. Carbs aren't really necessary for building muscle, you can get fats and protein without them but, you still shouldn't just cut them out entirely without actually researching more.
>>17456805
That's because professional athletes do shit tons more work than your average man and need the additional energy stores for hours upon hours of practice every day. If our man is only doing physical labor when he works out for an hour every day he needs them less.

They're literally not.

You want carbs from like brown rice, oats, shit that takes time to break down. I like to do brown rice / lentils, which combined together also makes a complete protein.

carbs are great for the gym, but they're not great all the time. best is oats preworkout, then a decent amount of carbs of your choice with a high-protein post-workout meal. outside of that, its not a bad idea to limit them somewhat, but maintaining proper glycogen levels is important for the gym

Good luck eating at a calorific surplus without carbs, OP. Just get your carbs from things like starchy vegetables and whole grains instead of processed and sugary shit. I highly recommend quinoa, it's higher in protein than most carb sources and its got some shit I can't remember the name of in it that's an anabolic.
