Diet soft drinks use aspartame and acesulfame instead of common sugar. They taste bland, have less calories and leave extremely shit aftertaste in your mouth

im weird i guess because despite the slight dip in flavor profile i prefer diet 'cause i think real sugar is too sticky. i could be wrong though and aspartamed sodas are still just as sticky. it's been a long time since i've had normal soda.

personally i prefer non-diet sodas and deal with the sugar aspect by simply not drinking my own body weight in them every day

If you are from US then I don't know, I tried some imported US drinks that were not labeled as "diet" and they had some super weird sugar taste.
I am just making a comparison between "diet" and a sugar that you get in europe.
Here we don't use corn syrup or anything, it's either normal sugar, so non-diet, or mix between those 2 aspartame and acesulfame labeled as diet.

yeah im US based and was forgetting that HFCS makes up most of the sugar content of our sodas. that may be what is responsible for the mouthfeel i was referring to.

ones with regular sugar only are usually special varieties marketed with that quality as their selling point
