Try a cheesecake that uses ricotta or something similar instead of cream cheese. The texture and flavor are pretty different. I love ricotta cheesecake but don't really like the cream cheese version.

My personal favourite is with little apple pieces in it. My grandma always added chunks of chocolate dough. But personally I am no fan of ganach so I never use it so I can't judge if it works.

I remember eating some seriously nasty cheesecake as a kid and it ruined the whole dessert for me for some years.
I remember it tasting sour but in a very unpleasant gag-inducing way.
I eventually tried another cake my mom made and it cured me but I had nightmares about that shitty cheesecake for years after. I can still recall the flavor now.
