Depends on why you are depressed and anxious. If you are a fat fuck who eats fast food, smokes, drinks, etc then changing your diet would help.
If you are already in tip top shape then perhaps diet alone won't help.
1 advice is to go out into the sun. Sunbathing can have a very calming effect.

It is, but how you handle it differs. I get it sometimes, but instead of freaking out I shut my emotions down now and the only thing I can feel within that period is anger if prompted - feels like you've had too much caffeine and are just going through the motions without much thought.

on the other hand, I've had severe alcohol withdrawal/mild drug psychosis where the sound of a fucking vacuum cleaner or loud car would send me into a sweat, heart palpitations and tunnel vision/body sensations. The problem with the internet era is that everyone's too quick to self diagnose and seek attention, so any minor thing is ''Oh my god I'm having an anxiety attack'' when in reality, it's just that they've never had anything too negative or troublesome in their life so they just exaggerate and bitch. Internet hypochondria is real, and it's polluted 99% of the women that use the internet.

If you think anxiety is fake, then I hope you never have a real anxiety attack - because I thought it was fake too until I finally had one, and it freaked me the fuck out thinking I was about to die or something. Feel free to hit that subscribe button below.

restlessness, nervousness, guilt, anticipation of strenuous effort and other feeling associated with mental processes related to burden are not anxiety. in the majority of cases where people describe their emotional state as anxiety they not willing to confront the cause. How is it that some who has taken nearly 2000mg of pure caffeine describes the simulated impending doom they are feeling as the same feeling a alcoholic gambling addict describes when they lose the portion of their income they should have budgeted for their families groceries that week.

I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder, panic disorder and depression when I was younger.
I've worked through these issues now.
Anxiety manifested as a physical pain response, I would immediately need to go to the bathroom as I would either throw up or shit myself if I didn't, and I'd get extreme cramps.
I used to have panic attacks that would last hours just being stuck in a bathroom crying and screaming over the most mundane shit. That was very much a real thing.

I went to therapy and got over it, in a way saying "anxiety isn't real" works, just simply don't be stressed, realize there isn't any danger and you'll be fine. But for people with damaged brains, this answer doesn't work, they will continue to freak the fuck out regardless.

>>17378832
To answer OPs question, a balanced diet is obviously the best. Avoid stuff that plays on your dopamine receptors so that you can attain natural dopamine through everyday tasks. This includes avoiding sugars, and balancing your carbs, meats and salt. Actually cook for yourself so you accomplish something, and don't go overboard on anything.

Childhood trauma was the major one, my father got cancer when I was 8, died when I was 12, he went pretty much completely insane and abused us a little bit, not violent but was psychotic and on a shit load of meds. My mother became an alcoholic for a couple years after, was somewhat abusive.
I love them both very much, my Mum is much better now, I understand my Dad went crazy due to his condition and that wasn't normal.

I also experienced some bullying in school, which contributed, and got addicted to video games and porn young, which also contributed to my avoidant, stay at home behavior. Why do hard work at school when you can jerk off and play video games?

My Dad exhibited similar anxiety symptoms as well when I knew him, when going to family events he'd sit on the toilet for a while, sometimes until we were late.

A cocktail of trauma, genetics and addiction I guess, maybe some NEET here can tell me about how I'm all wrong and I should've just manned up.
Idc I'm better now, got a job and I'm going to Uni, that's what matters. There's my lives story.

Fish and dark greens have had the best effect on general mood from what I've seen, though other food may have more or less of an effect depending on the person and where their body is at. Some people experience euphoria eating steak/oysters due to deficiencies in stuff like iron and zinc. Blueberries are good for brain health and can help mitigate oxidative stressors, like your image says. Cordyceps can help with mood elevation and alertness, and ashwaganda is taken everywhere for stress and anxiety, but it's good to test those first to see if what they offer is what you're actually lacking.

Interesting combo for one meal if you're being serious. Either way good luck, bro. Diet is a big part of health, but remember it's only going to help so much if other shit in your life is fucked. Get sleep, stay hydrated, get positive mental and social stimulation, lift or at least walk regularly, don't work yourself to death, &c. It's also more of a consistency thing, like lifting. Get an appropriate amount of sleep. Eat the carbs (not all the carbs, but some), this time of year, eat warm meals - not all sloppa, but lots of sloppa. Do what you can to get all the nutrients you need. multivitamins, a variety of meats and veggies, fruit, dairy if you can handle it. Get some sunlight, get your vitamin C. Eat the occasional curry (cinnamon, turmeric, chilies and ginger all seem to perk me up - not sure if it's because I like the flavour and colour or because they're actually doing something). Don't give in to tubs of ice cream and pizza all the time, but don't completely shut them out until you feel better. Get some exercise - cardio and a bit of intense lifting.

Please quote me where I stated any of this, brainlet.

Oh wait, you can't, because I didn't. Take your exceptionally shitty strawman and cram it up your downie ass, then try again in 3 or 4 months. That should be enough time for your smooth brain to put together something resembling an intelligent thought. Or don't and just reply with something completely fucking retarded again, your choice.

go on a water fast from Mo-Fr and eat on saturday, start of with some kind of broth and an hour later take a proper meal. You will ask yourself why you feel so good.

Everyone who says fasting is retarded is an npc and ngmi

The problem with fasting is that its benefits quickly wear off when you break the fast. At least for me. Fall 2020 I fasted two weeks. Never felt this consistently good in years. I then ate keto for a while and my mood started to get less good. Then I ate normally and it got worse and worse. Turned out I needed meds and probably have for twenty years.

After having finally had a gf for 2 years, I can soundly conclude that thinking of women as large children is the only way to deal with them successfully. This thread has helped to confirm this. They are overly emotional, unstable, and lack rational though. These are all generalizations of course, but in the majority cases this is true.

This seems like a very "normal" balanced diet, nothing special in particular, with a bit more focus on fish, olives and veggies available in the Mediterranean. And common-sense advice to avoid processed, fast, and sugary food. I like it, but would this really help low mood people? I feel like happinness of people living there is more because of the constant sunshine and lots of Vitamin D they receive.

It avoids specific pitfalls, like hypoglycemic crashes after sugar, excessive drinking, eating no fruit and vegetables, eating quick-release carbs instead of wholegrains, not getting enough fibre, eating too little oil (including nuts etc.), or not eating oily fish.

That said, you're completely correct when you say it's a normal balanced diet with few surprises. The main benefit for us is that it's well-specified and well-studied. If you already eat healthy it won't do as much.

If you want my method for curing depression. It was fully fasting on Monday and Friday then the other days it was stop eating after 6 PM and before 9AM. This does not mean I ate whatever I wanted during the 9 AM to 6 PM time period, it meant getting all the nutrition I needed. I also alternated from meat to fruit and nuts. One day it was meat and the other day it was fruit and nuts. I never did the fast for days in a row because that is dangerous and can even mess up your metabolism. Plus, this is something you want to keep doing for months not fast for a few days and never go again

I also heavily decreased my sugar intake and any sugar I got was from fruits only mostly.
