Eh, it's alright but overrated. I could write a small essay nitpicking all the disappointing points that bring a potential 10 instant ramen down to a 6, but honestly it's not necessary. I just think it's a 6/10 instant soup. Oddly enough the Shin Cup is a solid 8. The devil's in the details

I have two basic rules for instant soup.
1. I don't go for obscure or fantsy pance instantt soups
2. I won't fucking touch anything that I can't read the packaging.

That said, pic related has literally never disappointed me, so maybe for the last year or two this is my most reliable. It's not as versatile as some others though. Plain "oriental" style ramen is amazingly customizable, it takes meat, veggie, and the additions of sauces and oils very well whereas pi related does not.

mo goreng is much more delicious but there are some setbacks

it's a multi-step and somewhat messy process to make. all those packets of oils and sauces you add to the noodre in a certain order; the oil always leaks and makes a mess when you cut it open, and you never get all of it out. I crave it late night after drinking but kind of an asspain to make.

also it's not a soup, there's a lot to be said for a soup when it comes to instant noodre

Someone on this board taught me an amazing way to prepare shin ramyun that is better than just making the soup normally.
Mix packet contents with egg. Add a spoonful of mayo (or coconut cream which is my version). Whisk together. Add some hot water to temper the creamy eggy goodness. Cook and drain noodles. Mix cooked noodles into the egg/mayo/spicy powder solution. Wa la.
Originally i found shin ramyun to be kind of boring and lacking flavor. This method is satisfying. The soup is more like a creamy sauce rather than a thin clear soup.

>> No.17364721

I actually put the packets on top of the lid while boiling the water and it makes it all hot and melty. but still, I also cut the top with scissors but it's still not a perfect system, all the little bits of onion in the oil are hard to get out.

also you aren't meant to put all three packets in at once, the oil goes in right away and then you have to spend a good amount of time stirring and mixing the noodre to coat properly. the rest of the steps don't work properly if the noodre clump or aren't fully coated with oil.

then goes in the powder packet and mix thoroughly, then the sweet soy and chili sauce and mix thoroughly, then the dry onion packet.

it's just kind of a dickpain and when I'm sauced I make two packages worth so i'm trying to rush through the proccess with two of every packet. compared to "boil noodre + stir in soup packet" it's a project

Damn. This thread about instant ramen has been very informative. I thought I was pretty good at making this shit but I have been humbled.
Here's a few that I got.
>Sliced dried shitake.
They give and receive flavour excellently.
>Dried whole black fungus
(don't get the white back ones, they a shit)
>White pepper
If your noodle start to get a bit bland or boring towards the end, add a dash of this. It will brighten the dish and add a little kick.

bf is the same way, so sometimes we'll swap the spice pack between the stew type and the 40% less spicy so he can have 40% spicy stew type and I make noodles from the leftovers. it'd be pretty wasteful without making use of the leftover stuff, though.
