How do you explain biscuits and gravy to non-Americans? Biscuit seems to have a different definition outside America.

The american dialect of english retains many antiquated terms that went extinct in british english over the last 250 years.
Whenever you ask why do americans have weird names for things, you should ask why did british english degrade over time.

Thanks anon. Was wondering was biscuits were in this context.
Scones are a morning or afternoon tea type of thing - what makes you have them with sausages?

>> No.17319327

>>17319315
american biscuits are almost exclusively a savory buttery puffy bread thing you eat with fried chicken and gravy, sweet biscuits are basically pastry items.

>> No.17319350

the only difference between sweet and savoury scones is one has sugar and the other doesn't. your 'biscuits' are actually scones and you're eating them all wrong

Thanks for explaining that we're doing it wrong, I guess.
Plain scones don't have a lot of sugar in them. Pumpkin scones may in fact be sweeter. Many biscuits are sweeter than plain scones.

English scones are much harder and sweeter. American scones are the same thing, which is why we call them scones.
Biscuits are biscuits. Not scones or cookies.

shitty american knockoff 'Big Truckin Bill's Texas English Scones' are probably hard and sweet. I would eat a dog turd before I ate an american 'english' scone. English scones are light and fluffy.

My favorite comfort food is the humble hot dog Two of them served with a side of chips.

Zig zag pattern is CRUICIAL. The people who put the ketchup and mustard down the side of their dogs are fucking savages.

American biscuits are like Irish Soda Bread or any other quick breads op but much more buttery.

Every Euro whose tried biscuits love them. They are the perfect vehicle for butter and jam.
