Every ounce of pizza sauce you've ever had that you haven't prepared yourself has had a Mexican's entire arm in it at some point

Sweat some finely diced onions and minced garlic, later also sweat some tomato paste, then add tomato puree and season it with salt, pepper, oregano, thyme, rosemary and other things that fit.

Any of these recipies are fine, but do two things
1. Spice mix is fine, but use freshly cracked black pepper in your olive oil, that's very important.
2. Add butter towards the end. How much is up to you, but man it makes it taste glorious.

Ground tomatoes. But they are hard to find in stores, so Crushed is the go-to. Whole Peeled are also good but you need a low moisture cheese or it will be too wet. Oregano (Sicilian) and salt. That's all you need and never cook it.

Optional: EVOO, minced garlic, red pepper or black pepper, basil, red wine or balsamic vinegar, sugar or honey, anchovy paste. A bare bones sauce is better if you have spicy meats and stuff on the pizza. A sauce with more stuff in it is better if you are doing plain cheese. Pic related is classic pro choice for NY pizza tomatoes.

add tomatoe juice/water as needed
add basil and other italian herbs of your choosing
optional but recommended: drained whole tomatoes that you handcrush into the sauce for added texture

Just buy something jarred that isn't the cheapest. You use so little sauce on a pizza I find it to be the least important ingredient in the whole process.

Spend your time on the dough since thats the most important part, and spend your money on good cheese.

drain a can of tomatoes, add salt (0.5% of the weight of the tomatoes), and blend.

I just use a homemade tomato sauce.
I take tomatoes, homegrown are best, fresh basil (I use fresh thyme and sage too but oregano is best), onion, garlic, a tablespoon or so of olive oil, roast until tomato skins are browned, blend, and its done. It's so delicious.
