Why do normalfags hate this fruit?

because it smells and is bad.

>> No.17245764

I think you haven't had it. This is definitely a fruit that, if you had eaten it, and even if you had liked it, you'd understand why it's not everyone's thing. It is very specific.

>> No.17245783

i'd love to try durian, it sounds like something I'd really enjoy, it's just annoying they don;t import it to my shithole country because there's hardly any yellows here

Durian is like cilantro. Theres always some reddit faggot who has to chime in

>>it tastes like soap!!

It's not bad. I like it when it's around but I don't go out of my way for it. I've seen a lot of folks try to describe it, but the best I can come up with is "fruity onion".

Most people will never have access to the best varieties of fresh durian. Frozen will never compare.
If international travel ever becomes feasible for normal lower class people again, I must visit Malaysia and enjoy the musang king durian fresh.

I’ve eaten two large fresh portions, one ripe, one less ripe. Apparently some people prefer the former and some the latter. It’s literally the BRAAAAAAAAAP contemplate the aroma of food. It’s not really objectively good or bad, it’s more if you get a hard-on from having your nose in a braphog’s cheeks or if you’d rather be doing something else. After that experience, which I’m grateful for having had, I’d rather do something else, personally. I suppose I understand why people are into it, but it’s not for me.

I don't hate it but you don't it want sitting around long, for instance I had a small thing of it from a Thai store then forgot about it in my refrigerator and was hanging out one day and noticed this really weird smell then remembered there was bit sitting my fridge for like a week, hell I chucked that into a dumpster faster that I could say lickety-split. I feel bad for the garbage guys who had to pick that up.
It really did smell like a dead corpse.

>>17245818
I guess it has kind of a creamy texture. I don't want to paint myself as a durian expert, I've only had it a few times. It's very distinct. Some folks compared it to garlic here, I can see that. It's in that onion/garlic family. It is fruity though.

It is a delicious rich custard flavor in the sweeter varieties. Then there are ones that have a bittersweet flavor or even an alcoholic touch. I remember back in the day when I lived with family, eating durian was a special occasion. We would all go outside evening or night and open a durian or two together, then pass around the best pieces (while still nestled in the skin like a plate).

What a terrible thing to do. You pretty much must eat it all once the fruit has been opened. Otherwise you must vac pack and freeze if you want to keep it for another time.

Nah I went to a famous stand that specialized in it.
it was quite a popular place with a nice crowd and they waste nothing.

>> No.17246006

>>17245993
What does going to a famous stand have anything to do with the posts that you quoted?

>> No.17246026

>>17246006
There was an implication that I bought two durians (which are fucking massive), then wasted 85% of each after trying a small potion. Rather than doing such a shitty and wasteful thing, I went to a reputable, busy, popular, and dare I say famous (in the area) stand where I could try small portions of the most popular fruit without wasting any (since many patrons effectively split a single whole fruit).

Some people have a gene that makes Cilantro taste bad.
Much like this, some people (most) have a gene that makes bread Jackfruit not only taste bad, but smell very very had as well. You and I are lucky to be of the few who are not effected by this and are able to taste the wonders of this fruit. If you were not a retarded autist, you would have already known this.

They are basically the same thing, and the durian has the same problem as the jack fruit. It's like the difference of an orange and a clementine.

>> No.17248291 [DELETED]

It's genetic, brown "people" love the taste and smell of human feces and garbage so they love durian, white people are genetically predisposed to avoiding such things so they don't enjoy durian.

>> No.17248972

Take a bite of an onion, chew and swallow. Now take a small spoonful of vanilla yogurt and swallow it. Finally take a bite out of a dry, not overly sweet Basque pear. Thats the taste of durian.

It's ok.

I used to work at a discount grocery store and we used to get these, but they were always covered in mold by the time we got them, so we would pick out the least moldy ones, scrape most of the mold off, and put them out for the customers.

I remember we also used to "shake the blueberries," because when blueberries go bad, they start growing this white spiderweb-like mold all over them, but if you shake the clamshell they're in really hard, that webbing gets torn up and destroyed and you can keep them out on the floor for one more day.

Working produce at a discount grocery store kind of ruined fruits and vegetables for me.

Lol damn that takes me back.
First job was at a poorfag grocery store.
Very first weekend I was shown how isopropyl alcohol will get rid of those printed expiration dates on almost any plastic container.
