To be relevant on cable TV you have to be hyper focused on what you're audience will watch. I'm guessing the average cable viewer is a middle class 60 year old in a loveless marriage and the only bright spot in their day is whatever drivethru they go to for lunch and waiting for their yearly cruise around the same islands that they've never actually seen and to eat and drink as much as possible until you can put up with the annual sex with your spouse while you are thinking about the young people working the ship.

So yeah calorie heavy gimmick food is their target audience

I don't think these criticisms of that network are very valid. And there's a whole lot of mentally ill fatphobic people in this thread who might have an eating disorder themselves. Remember to look inward and love jesus. Please reconsider your opinions of "the food network" and seek mental help if you begin to feel strong emotions about people's mere existence.

The Guy Fieri era of food network is kino television. Wholesome albeit gluttonous. I think DDD is right up there with Unwrapped and Good Eats.
