>wine and cheese platter for dessert

I'm not so sure about this new trend. Is it based?

Pretentious and also too heavy as a "dessert". Too much.
For me, chees and vine is like drinking beer with pretzel. For long conversations, and passing time.

It's hardly a new trend, cheese boards have long been a dessert option at fancy restaurants. It's just millennials discovering boomers had good taste all along.

I just had Christmas dinner, what did I think of it /ck/?

just made one of these for the first time on christmas. family loved it. brie, goat cheese, and mozzarella. i put some nuts, fruit, tiny pickles, and smoked salmon on the side. easy peezy and everyone will think you're sooo creative despite just randomly buying whatever looked good at the store throwing it together.

While some type of cheese are GOAT with honey or jam, it's still better as an appetizer

As someone who isn't really into sweets and desserts it is incredibly based.
Especially with a good slice of bread, a nice chutney or some sweet mustard.

I wouldn't call it "dessert" but as recently as yesterday my family and I ate leftovers and had a cheese platter, crackers, marmalade and a good red wine together. It's super good in moderation with the fat and sweet paired with the wine. I guess umami would be the proper descriptor here.

This is KEY!
Not just wine and cheese, but things to go with it to cleanse the palette; nuts, fruit, the acidity of pickled veggies, and the smokiness of the salmon. All flavors combine to complement the other. It's definitely a Euro/sophisticated American touch. The lower classes in the USA won't be able to comprehend it as dessert, as they are programmed to have super sweet things like cake, pie, or ice cream as dessert.

Cheese as dessert is stupid. Cheese should be an appetizer with some crusty bread and ham

Sweets and pastries hurt my teeth, so I can't really eat them :(
I'd be delighted if I found out we were having some fancy cheeses and nice wine for dessert instead of cookies or something.

>brie
kind of overrated but is still good, but eating too much of it by itself makes me feel fat
>blue cheese
its fine if you like tasting really heavily salted cheese with a funky taste, but its too strong of a flavor for me, but possibly better crumbled for sprinkling on food, but eating on it's own it feels like i'm using the wine as a chaser for the cheese rather than the cheese as a chaser for the wine
what you should get is something hard that retains shape like sharp cheddar
