Portabella caps, stem off and wiped with a wet paper towel
Marinate in 1/4 cup of of the following : Balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard, olive oil, soy sauce
Add 1 tbsp honey and salt to the marinade.
Let sit for...eeeeh, an hour or more depending on how long you like, play with it.
I have a little George Foreman grill/panini maker that I got for my bday and I'll just press them in there, but I've done this before on a cast iron skillet and that works well too. Or hell, pop it in the oven and bake it if you don't mind not having a sear.

Yes. Take dried mushrooms. Grind them up. Soak them in your favorite citrus juice for at least 20 minutes. Slam it. Wait 20-30 minutes. Blast off into outer space

Sounds fire af desu senpai, not op but I'll try it out. As for you, OP, I mostly use mushrooms as a compliment to a steak/burger or other hearty dish. The only time I've ever used them as something main course ish would be stuffed mushrooms.

everything around here is either dehydrated or freeze dried. The only ones I can get consistently and love cooking with is Shitake & Oyster mushrooms.

Sure, take the spore of your choice. Use the sterilized medium of your choice. I'm using rye grain and vermiculite for my Psylocibin, Bear Tooth and Lions main mushrooms. For my Ghost Fungus I'm using sterlized poplar sawdust.
I have some Pestalotiopsis microspora mycelium growing in a bed of sawdust and shredded bottle plastic. I haven't got it to fruit yet but it has started breaking down the plastic

1. Get some chanterelles and brush off any dirt (or wash them, idgaf)
2. Split them apart with your hands to quarter them. Notice the styrofoam-like texture as a reference for later.
3. Heat up some neutral oil over medium-high heat with a pinch of salt and cook the mushrooms until they lose the styrofoam texture, about 5-7 minutes.
4. Deglaze with a tablespoon of some dry, white wine such as Sauvignon blanc, and cook until you no longer can smell any alcohol (about 1-2 minutes)
5. Remove from heat and add a tablespoon of butter and melt gently.

Wa-la

nah I live in Utah, it's ridiculously dry here and typically either too hot, too cold, too dry and too polluted for good mushroom biomes. Plus I work as an exterminator and arborist so I have plenty of chemicals sitting around. I do occasionally find some decent morel patches though and I have a long term experiment trying to get truffles to grow in Aspen groves. That's been going on for just under 3 years now, when I checked this last fall I did find some which was a nice surprise, the deer and shit have been doing their jobs spreading the spore around

If you are buy ‘hand-picked’ ones from the store, that is likely your problem. My friend and I harvest them from the forests nearby and we generally laugh at what we see in the grocery stores. It seems like the professional foragers keep all the good ones for themselves and high-end restaurants and give the bottom of the barrel to the stores.

Also, mushroom stands at farmer’s markets can be good too.

Get 20g of Northeastern Queensland luminescent mushrooms

50g Darien Gap Jungle Shitaks

Mix them all in a rock bowl in a 70% humidity room

Lay each mushy down and sing "Believe" by Cher to them.

Once the mushys have awoken, pierce them with a toothpick and enjoy.

Sorry I have a pretty "professional" at home setup but two grow Chambers, my humidifier and my spawn jars take up on of my double doored kitchen cabinets.
Mushroom growing hardly takes up any space. I also have a couple mason jars in my fridge for Propagating more spore because I'm a cheap bastard and don't want to pay for more spore when it's easy to produce. The batch of lizard king I grew over the summer produced 7 pounds fresh, I didn't weigh it after I dried it but I was everyone's best friend for a while giving out bags of mushrooms.

Lions mane is honestly one of my favorite gourmet mushrooms. I developed a shellfish allergy in my 30s and at least texture wise it's the closest I'll get. They are a bit bitter if you undercook them though

Mushroom growing can be profitable, but pretty small scale unless you have a lot of money to invest. But if you have local farmer markets and the local laws are cool with it you can make some good side cash.
I don't sell the magic mushrooms I grow but obviously that could be profitable too. I've just found that microdosing helps my depression more than any of the other medications I've taken including ketamine.

Sustained daily dosing. I wish I could give you more precession but like a quarter of a 00 cap with finely ground mushroom and just ground flax seed in the rest of the cap.

good post

i like chicken of the woods breaded/battered and made into nuggies, i did some in an air fryer that were 10/10 this past summer. with oysters i usually do a stir fry. morels are required by law to be sauteed with the good kind of butter (garlic and black pepper highly recommended)

lemon tek is the best but nothing beats a pitcher of mushroom tea with a group of friends on a hot summer day about an hour before sunset. optimally next to a lake, a campfire or both. add one or more of the following for varied interesting experiences: live music, a projector, glow sticks, body paint

mycoremediation is extremely cool. i saw a contract out for a company to clean up an old EPA/superfund site in a small town near me (iirc a factory of some kind that worked with oil/chemicals had been torn down) and i thought it would be interesting to propose to use mycoremediation techniques (mycelium bales mixed in with the soil, more or less) to rehabilitate the site. also very interested in applying this technique to dioxin/Agent Orange sites in vietnam.

>> No.17176516

Yeah dude it's honestly cool as shit. Strategic use of this shit would actually capture the majority of plastics before they hit the ocean, there are practical applications of incubating the mycelium in landfills to eat all the waste that won't decay on its own. Mushrooms are ironically the future
