how much would you pay for your meal?
I see some people ordering a 200 dollars wagyu in a restaurant and I can't stop thinking: Do they really think a small bite of wagyu is worth 200 dollars? There is no meat in the entire world worth 200 dollar a bite
I myself would spend 80 dollars max in a meal

Maybe you should instead think that cost is subjective and that $200 isn’t a life-changing expenditure to some people; whether or not you also feel it’s “worth” it is immaterial.

Cost is the most objective thing in the world. But that eludes the midwit like all the things objective.

Like heroin, I don't see the point because best case scenario, it's by far the most incredible thing I've ever tasted. Then I can barely ever eat it. I only want something I can go back for more or something I've learned to prepare myself.

What’s funny is how often the people who say this are the same people who consider things like gold to be a sound investment.

>you should instead think that cost is subjective and that $200 isn’t a life-changing expenditure to some people;
what you are referring to is the marginal value of money
if you've got an income fo $150,000 then $200 is worth far less to you than it is to the waiter.
so you'll get wagyu if you feel like it, while it is a wild extravagance to a barista

20 dollars max unless I get tricked because I'm not a stupid idiot that lets myself get scammed. A good meal costs about five dollars if I cook it myself and I'm willing to cough up about fifteen dollars for convenience but that's it. I'll splurge a bit for occasions but I would never spend more than 20 normally.
Times are changing though. Might have to be 30 soon thanks to inflation.

I feel bad for you if you honestly never eat the occasional nice meal out. $20 is lunch price in my eyes.

$30-50 for dinner, and i I have no problem paying for a special occasion (anniversary, graduation, etc) up to $200-300 per person depending on the event.

Dude I honestly feel bad for you if you consider $20 a "lunch". I know people have varying levels of income, but what kind of hog slop are you eating? And $200-300 dollars per person for something like a graduation is insulting. Thats once in a lifetime for most people, and you feel the need to be a cheap bitch. Im glad I dont know you

Bartender. I know fancy bartenders. I like to visit my fancy bartenders' restaurant to get fucked up, and it happens to serve overpriced food along with overpriced cocktails.

If I want to be a huge piece of shit spending far too much, I'll order a $100 steak, about 5 $15 cocktails, one $13 baked potato, and then I'm just about done. I'd pay $300-$400 for a meal including all of the fun stuff, but about $100-$200 for the actual meal.

Now, this is for a proper 5 star restaurant. This is top of the line, no fucking around top tier quality on all fronts. I wouldn't accept anything less than perfect quality if I was doing this. This is for the very best you can expect in a restaurant.
