I usually make sandwiches for hiking trips I take.

Often we end up eating while driving.

An open face sandwich simply would not work.

Can you imagine taking the first bite of that sandwich and sending the tomato halfway across the room why are the slices so thick

It's weird because I'm Canadian and I've been making my sandwiches like that since forever.
Two slices is simply to much bread.
Must be my aryan gene's shining through.

can confirm. we only ever eat sandwiches with two piece of bread at work / school because they're obviously easier to transport without immediately coming apart

>>17131708
Why don't you just put the two pieces of bread together to transport, then split them apart to eat?

>> No.17132036

you can have a higher ingredient to bread ratio with two slices than one

unless it's a nice buttery burnt grilled cheese, I always preferred an open face sammy while most other people in the USA seem to prefer closed, or else it's so standard that people don't typically think about other sandwich arrangements?

>> No.17132053

The sandwich is an anglo innovation and we eat it the traditional way because we're not degenerate pope worshipping continentals.

Condiments on bread is a Greek invention called pitta. It's been popularized around the world, most notably in Neapolis, a Greek settlement in southern Italy, where they pronounce pitta as "pizza".

Good luck with your triangular mayonnaise bread, full English breakfast and filthy tea.

I'll make an open sandwich if I'm putting an egg or something on it. Ham, gruyere, and an egg on a potato roll as a kind of croque madame is a go to for me.

I know people do it because people generally don't want two slices of bread for breakfast and would rather have a bowl of yoghurt, an egg or something with it

are you a robot? have you never had a sandwich before
