For me it’s the Tabasco Family Reserve.
The flavor is richer from being aged longer, it only uses peppers grown on the original island, and it’s made with white wine vinegar instead of distilled.

Is it really that different? What is the effect of extra aging? Is it just more barrel flavor or do the peppers have a different taste as well? Love that barrel flavor.

bullshit, if only because it's so much vinegar
like gosh I just put two tablespoons of white vinegar on my pizza and I tooooooootally can't even taste it. That doesn't mean you have a hot sauce tolerance it means you're retarded

>> No.17092870

Yes the barrel flavor is more pronounced.
The flavor is also less “sharp” and more complex because of the extra aging. It’s a noticeably darker color than the regular Tabasco.

>> No.17092877

>>17090274
It has a smokiness from the barrels they store it in.

>obligatory autistic screeching of “b-but vinegar!!!!”
Yes, faggots. It’s not a pepper purée, and it’s not a sweet Asian chili sauce. It’s a vinegar based sauce, just as ton of other hot sauces are vinegar based.
And if you seriously find vinegar to be the dominant flavor, you need to stop smoking or whatever you’re doing to fuck up your sense of taste.

Tabasco actually has a pretty small fraction of the salt of most hot sauces, even copycats like Louisiana. Like 35ml in a tsp vs. 250. The shitters have to pump the salt up that much to get any flavor to come through. I guess you probably shouldn't drink a 12 oz bottle of Tabasco anyway though

Texas Pete and Tabasco taste the same. All the supermarket cayenne and vinegar hot sauces taste the same. Crystal, Louisiana, Red Devil, etc.
