We never had school lunches where I lived growing up, but there was a canteen that sold equivalent-quality food for kids whose parents either didn't make them lunch or didn't teach them how to make lunch. You could have your parents buy you cafeteria tickets in a pack or just pay out of your own pocket if you had the coinage.

I feel I really missed out on something by not getting to have “normal” school lunches.
My parents sent me to a private school which often just had catered things. “Pizza day” would be Sbarro or Pizza Hut, burgers would come from various burger places, sandwiches from sub shops, and other meals like pot roast or whatever would be cooked at the school or sometimes come from restaurants.
It was just ‘regular’ food; I’ve been cheated out of the nostalgia for school lunch food.

Seeing some of these trays of food looks rough. Now, I'm thankful that my elementary school served a decent meal most days. Now, high school was great...the first year before Obama's nigger wife fucked that up.
We had a salad line, mexican food style line, general regular food. and then a specialty line.
I remember every monday I would grab a nacho, burger on tuesday and wed, stopsign pizza on thurs, and then whatever the special was on friday since it usually was good.
Then the following years sucked and we ended up with just the salad line and one line which consisted of shitty vegan style food. I started packing my own lunch after that.

These threads always remind me of the first grade school I went to in Auburn, WA. Terminal Park Elementary. The breakfasts and lunches there were fantastic. You can tell in this thread who is over a certain age in America just with what they were served in school.

I went to a fairly poor Britbong school and we just had the same catering as prison food. It was still more edible than the Obamameal shit though. That is depressing.
Sometimes the order wouldn't arrive because they were either lazy niggers or sheep had stolen the truck or whatever. On those rare days the school would bulk buy a shit ton of sauaage and chips from the local chip shop, they got a good deal because the headmaster knew them well (and it's a school). I enjoyed those days.
Ultimately it all came down to how well you actually prepared your own meals. Some guy would ocasionally come in with a whole bucket of cold kfc. Some poor fucker only had a shitty ham sandwich with no butter, the cheapest crisps (chips) money could barely buy which seemed more oil than actual potato and a dinky little chocolate bar and a bottle of water with the same shitty plastic waterbottle being reused for 3 years... Every god damn day.
Man... School was depressing come to think of it, at least the food there was edible though and I didn't have the poorest of dirt parents. There were these salmon fishcakes of sorts which I particularly loved but will probably never eat again because it was a weird prison food catering item

Middle school they had 2 lunch lines. One was the normal prison food and the other was whatever they felt like frying that day plus burgers. I ate the fries and burger and got a soda and candy bar from the school vending machine. High school everyone ate off campus. Honestly not even sure I ever ate a school lunch then.

Nacho day. Every Wednesday the two lines for nachos would be filled while the pizza line between them only had like two or three kids at most

every friday they'd have cakes with powdered sugar on them and it was the best day of the week, that and the pizza. cardboard pizza is shitty but cardboard pizza from school was different
