This is so good, why isn't it as famous as pancakes and waffles globally?

Is it not?

I actually do prefer it over pancakes or waffles.

>This is so good, why isn't it as famous as pancakes and waffles globally?
Three reasons.
1) It's rarely as good as it could be if you don't make it from slightly aged bread.
2) It's not as good as it could be if you don't serve it with some sort of fruit (the only edible option off-season is macerated strawberries).
3) It's commonly seen as lazy.
Pancakes and waffles you can make stellar with purely shelf-stable ingredients and from scratch with minimal prep and it'll be seen as having put effort into it.

Personally I open up my (milk, often costs as much as the next more expensive non-milk option and only 20 cents more than the least expensive option) toast, spread it on a cutting board, then go to sleep. Next day you'll have it nicely dried out and ready to accept the egg without getting soggy.
Also.
Reminder.
French toast is best prepared in a mix of vegetable (canola, grapeseed, coconut, peanut many I know swear by but I cannot personally vouch for it) and butter. Just clarified butter works too and tastes 10/10 but the mix is how you guarantee success.

Made these croissant French toasts the other day. Used caramel flavored cream instead of milk too. It was pretty sick.

Am the only person that eats savory french toast?
