Why would you buy these packaged ones? They literally have that "stale" taste as their focal point. I talked to my Italian friend about this and he said that no, they're not supposed to have that flavor at all, and that only retards buy the packaged ones.

Here in Berlin we don't eat panettone or pandoro, they only eat it in the shitty italian villages (paeselli) where Ciruzzo lives in ugly council houses with mice and munnezz.

>> No.17050950

>>17050894
Well, there are different tiers of panettone and pandoro.
The first red flag is the expiration date, because the cheap ones made for the great distribution last several months and are made in advance before the Christmas holidays.
Usually up to 10€ they’re considered cheap superstore sweets, then in the 20€ area you can find semi artisanal panettone which is more fresh and uses better ingredients but the ultimate panettone is made freshly and uses top tier ingredients, it also has a shelf life of like 2 months, maybe some more. Even the ones that are supposed to be sold outside Italy are still made at the end of November so they can be eaten fresh for Christmas.

>TL;DR = cheap panettone is trash and nobody buys it seriously if they want a good sweet, raise your budget and aim to spend at least 20€ for a decent one.

>they’re also INDUSTRIAL shit
Just like 99% of the so called artisanal ones, don't kid yourself. The only real artisanal stuff is the kind made to be eaten within a few days of getting out of the oven, everything packaged is the same shit with different brands.
The only real difference between a mass market brand and a small market one is that the big brand has its own production facilities, whereas the small one shares one factory with another dozen or so "artisanal" brands who sell you the exact same dough with a differently colored piece of cardboard around it.

Nigger I can tell the difference between a shitty 4€ Motta and another random panettone that costs 20€, mainly because the second one uses moist fruit and the “bread” isn’t dry and crunchy like the cheap one which has chewy raisins…get over with this, there’s a reason if they’re so cheap and you can’t tell me that a 18€ Albertengo panettone tastes the same as a supermarket Bauli/Motta.
There are some store exclusive panettone with made that are the same exact rebranded panettone of another producer (usually more expensive) but still they’re - how strange - products that are normally sold for 3-4x the price of your 4€ Motta industrial cake.

To be fair, I'm not even trying to argue that there are no differences in quality between brands, but everyone I've ever met who argues the shit you do is invariably just a snob who couldn't distinguish shit from chocolate, nevermind Motta from Albertengo.
The cheap 4€ stuff is cheap, but still not shit, and the 20€ absolutely isn't worth paying five times more, nevermind warranting the elitism to look down on other people for their purchases.
>do I have to tell you that they’re so cheap because of scale economies

What if, carefully open your ears because you don’t want to miss this, Motta and Bauli (and the other brands alike) - since they produce industrial sweets all year long - simply share the ingredients between all their lines of products?
This would explain why they use the same dry ass chewy raisins and candied fruit in the panettone that you can find inside other sweets that have them inside and they’re produced all year long.

Do not even try to “demolish” my argument it you can’t grasp the concept of a multinational producing sweets every single day vs smaller companies and bakeries producing a Christmas sweet one or two months a year.
