That said, individual results will vary. The problem with having a million franchises is you have a million managers who don't do their job properly. So one time it might be great, another time it might be fucked up.

personally I feel like KFC is the only fried chicken place that has flavor in the skin. Yes it is softer and it's not as crunchy as popeyes skin. KFC in Australia changed to frying in canola and its actually quite good now, everywhere else I've had it has been shit. You can get far better fried chicken at regular stores.

Thought it was shit growing up when my parents would always get the buckets with sides, now that I'm a lonely adult buying food for one KFC is a lot better. Can just get the chicken sandwich or the tenders with fries. I don't bother with their boned chicken or sides. Locations vary wildly though the one nearest to me is typically good but this other KFC I went to out of town was garbage. The chicken was soggy and the batter turned to mush.

As a flip I would say Jollibee has better chicken than KFC or Popeyes. But KFC still has better mashed potatoes. Right now out of the chicken/wings places I would rank it like this


1. Bonchon - Packs the most flavor per bite. Skin nice and crunchy. Literally the perfect chicken.

2. Jollibee - It's like Popeyes but the meat is actually good. It's basically a straight up upgrade to Popeyes.

3. It's Just Wings - Chicken was good. Kinda like Wingstop but not as greasy or salty, but on the flipside it doesn't have Wingstop's flavor diversity. I would say that what puts it over Wingstop for me is the curly fries and cheese dip. And people would probably find the lack of over the top greasiness to be a lot less offensive compared to Wingstop.

4. Wingstop - While it might taste disgustingly greasy and salty, some of their flavors like garlic parmesan are just too good to ignore. It's an acquired taste, but if you can get past the greasiness it gives you the best variety of flavors.

5.WooBoi - Local chicken place. They get a special mention for having the spiciest chicken I've ever had. Their highest spice level chicken is so spicy that you will probably try to force yourself to vomit just so you can get rid of the intense burning in your stomach. Their milder level stuff is fine for the average person.

6. Popeyes - Skin is nice and crunchy, could easily be top tier if we're just judging by the skin. But when it comes to the meat it's just bland. It gets progressively worse the more you take a bite out of the meat. It really doesn't play its 'Cajun flavor' hand as much as it should.

7. KFC - Skin is sorta soggy and below average. Meat is probably a lot more edible than Popeyes. Mashed potatoes and gravy are it's one saving grace. Also fuck them for getting rid of wedges.

6. Bojangles - Had it once. Wasn't impressed.

Haven't had Buffalo Wild Wings or Chic fil a yet.

The mashed potato bowl is a guilty pleasure of mine.

The last time I had KFC was when Mahomes won the bowl. I was driving home and remembered the game was on so I decided to pick up a combo for my brother and I since I hadn’t had it in a while. Fries were mushy, gravy was gloopy, but the chicken, dripping in fry oil, cold on some parts warm on others, tasted ‘off’. No wonder KFCs are closing like crazy. I'm okay with everything but their OG chicken.
Tenders, new and old Sandwiches, Pot Pie, Famous Bowl, Popcorn Chicken, whatever, they're fine for me. But when it comes to what they're best known for; their drums, legs and thighs, breasts, wings, etc., I don't know if it's just my state in the US but the 3 different restaurants I got KFC from over the recent years is absurdly dry that it's actually insulting. To the point if I'm given KFC by family or co-workers I just end up eating the skin and slowly TRY to eat the actual meat, but end up disgusted and possibly ending up throwing it away whole.
It's absurd coming from every other place that serves fried chicken around my area (sometimes even cheaper). Not even Popeyes, but supermarket fried chicken they serve by their deli, or a random mom & pop shop.
