Chili dog, depends on the quality of chili/frank. A typical Oscar Meyer frank with shitty can chili is going to taste like can chili. A beef frank from the local deli with homemade chili will always have a better flavor profile.

All that aside, if you're using cheap dogs then it doesn't matter what you do because it'll taste like nothing.
