Got some fancy blue cheese and can't eat it all by itself. Inviting some friends over for burgers and want to use it. What are some other topping that would be good besides just blue cheese? Bacon is out since my friends can't eat it. I was thinking arugula, tomato and grilled onions but that doesn't seem like the best combo.

1) walnuts are great with blue cheese, but I don't know how you can add them in a burger: break them in little bits and gently mix them with the cheese? maybe use a walnut bread instead of basic bums?
2) slices of pears could work too but might be too sweet
3) try a bit of maple syrup or honey too

I appreciate your suggestions. Pear, grilled might be a good choice! I'm trying to stay away from a bbq sauce too. Honey or maple syrup would be good if I were using bacon. Fuck I might actually do it.

I was thinking maybe using red onions and making them sweet and tangy like in those Mexican dishes. Something to offset the salty cheesiness of the burger like you are going for with the sweet honey and fruits.

I like blue cheese but wouldn't it drown out literally every other flavor on the burger?

blue cheese likes honey and pears above all other things so you could try for something like that but it's a bit out there on a burg

If you can whip up some type of citrus vinaigrette, orange base ideally, id toss the arugula in that with some walnuts or sliced almonds, and some dried cranberries. I eat that on a fried chicken sandwich every day at work, except with kale instead of arugula, and some caesar dressing for the top bun. tomato slices will also complement it.

that burger is too small for the bun and it looks both burned on the outside and raw in the middle at the same time

Naw. It's a 1/2 pound patty. It was just pretty thick so it shrank down and it was pretty tall. Not too small for it at all.

It's not burnt, and it was barely medium rare.
