I consider myself a very good baker. I bought her book for fun. Every recipe I read seems reasonable and extremely knowledgeable. Every one I have tried has been both delicious and impressive to my friends and family. I started watching her YouTube videos and I find myself wishing my actual wife was like her... insightful comments about food, cooking and baking.
Mine can't even bake a cookie from scratch lol.
I am a bit jealous of how good a baker Claire is, but also strangely aroused. This is a crush, right? Anyone else have a crush on Claire?

I think her Dessert Person show has demonstrated more of her baking chops than her time at BA.

>wife doesn't know how to cook
>explain to her that it's literally just following an ordered list of simple instructions
>go over one basic recipe with her(chicken tenders)
>she immediately realizes that she is capable of cooking anything that doesn't require skilled knife work

Did you marry a drooling idiot? Or is she just that lazy? This shit is like math. There's no fucking excuse for not being able to do it. Don't let women be intellectually lazy. They will if you let them.

I only passed high school math classes by cheating and being at the teachers mercy

You've never taught anyone how to cook. Even if I watched every step and barked orders to her, it still wouldn't be as good as if I did it myself. It's like trying to explain how to give yourself a handjob.

Plus our skillgap is so large, she can never really impress me unless she goes deep into it. I have cooked professionally in the pas,t and it is my #1 hobby now. I have been trying, but after months she still doesn't understand a lot like even how to hold a knife properly. I've accepted she is a normie.

Bruh, passing high school math just requires medium effort for most people unless the teachers are incompetent. But you don't need to know calculus to be a competent human anyways.

By math I mean the shit you actually need to use in your life. simple division and multiplication, geometry, basic algebra, fractions and percentages.

You don't need to know how to graph a function, but you do need to be able to quickly add multiple two and three digit numbers in your head.

I cook for a living. I literally train new cooks at my job. It's not hard. It never has or will be. Cooking a single dish is not difficult, even for someone inexperienced. I don't expect my wife to juggle three different pans, because I'm not expecting her to pull out the stops and wow me with some incredible dish. But you don't need to do that at home. It's not difficult to make a one-skillet roast dinner, once whoever's making it gets over the idea that cooking is difficult.

The hard part is never getting a reasonably intelligent person to be able to follow one recipe to completion. The issue with kitchen work comes with an expectation of speed and doing multiple things simultaneously. You've worked in kitchens, so you'd know that cooking at home is like 1/10 as difficult.

The only barrier for most new line cooks is handling multiple dishes at once to keep up with chits. I've never had someone be unable to figure out how to sear and deglaze that wasn't borderline retarded in other ways too.

Yeah, it's not hard to me or anyone it worked with that actually cared. She doesn't even understand the instructions like "bring sauce to simmer" because I have to tell her what is a simmer vs a boil. If it says "diced" onion, she will do like 1 in pieces then dp it in. Fucking Midwesterners.
