Was watching the F1 with some friends last night and I cooked burgers on my all clad saute pan.
>med heat
>olive oil
>tossed in the burg
They must have been fatty cuts of meat because a few minutes later they were smoking like CRAZY. I finished the burgs and now the pan looks like this.

What the fuck happened and how do I fix this shit

>> No.16957549

you left the pan on the gas overnight?

Looks like the oil polymerized in your pan.

You won't really be able to just bruteforce that shit off unless you have an angle grinder. You'll need oxalic acid. Sounds exotic, but it's really just a bottle of pic related that you can pick up at literally any grocery store for about $2.

They make a double-strength variant in a silver container that's more expensive, but it's hard to find. Honestly, this stuff is good enough anyway. You should be able to power through that gunk in about twenty minutes.

You don't need to use olive oil when making burgers, as long as the pan was properly preheated they shouldn't stick.

It'll work great. Just don't treat it like a scouring powder, because it sort of isn't. You have to let it sit on there for a good five to ten minutes. You'll have to scrub it a few times, too, not gonna lie.

Why are you cooking burgers in olive oil? Also sounds like you weren't watching your hot pan full of oil and grease which is stupid as fuck too

Lol, that's actually the remains of a beef marrow bone, and the stains are from where my dog slobbers as he chews it. For a power-chewer the frozen marrow bone is the only thing that does it.

Honestly I had a bunch of people over, we were drinking and watching the Formula 1, and grilling burgers is not exactly the kind of thing you expect to destroy a pan like that. I mean I've cooked hundreds, if not thousands, of oil-based dishes in that All Clad and NEVER had an issue.

Bar keepers friend is great stuff. Just remember it’s abrasive, so don’t use it on anything where you want to maintain the paint or coating. Also be careful to avoid breathing or ingesting any, it’s toxic and you may prime yourself for kidney stones

If you want to get the rest off and have the pan looking brand new, spray the bejeezus out of it with pic related and leave it in an plastic trash bag overnight. Use yellow version in pic, not blue.

Trued at and made them all like new

For motivation. When I am feeling exhausted and struggling to complete my workout, I look directly into his eyes and invoke his mighty spirit. I imagine him looking at me and being disappointed and I immediately start pedaling harder.
