I work from home and often eat a sandwich for lunch alone. I fear choking to death on my rare slices of roast beef and find cutting the sandwich in half or even quarters reduces the risk and even increases the speed at which I can fully consume the sandwich (yes even accounting for the cutting and extra prep time). I only use a cutting board and no plate since the interaction is done in just a moment anyway.

Always diagonal and top left to bottom right but that’s because I’m right handed.

The diagonal slice is superior because it offers more contrasting textures and convenience. There is nothing that compares to eating the sharp ends of a diagonally sliced sandwich.
