I can’t imagine the abject disappointment and profound dread of going from holding your newborn son to playing with him and being each other’s world to watching him slowly regress into a man child shut in who hides in his room behind a screen all day and night. At first you worry if he’s gay or has some psychological problem then it gets to the point where at least if he was gay he’d interact with someone and get out of the house. He’s in the house ALL fucking day and night and has become a wedge between you and your wife, who is the only one he really interacts with (fucking mama’s boy). Life revolved around his whims and everyone had to play around or there would be another half-hearted threat of suicide or relapse.

Your son that you once held and loved fiercely now has you and your wife hostage. As you sit you see the light under his door despite the late hours. He can spend all night playing video games but can’t wake up on time to go to one of the many jobs you pulled strings and called in favors to get him. He humiliates you at every turn and will never let you enjoy your later years with your wife. You can barely talk to him now.
