Same here but they surely don't actually memorize the names. They look at the birth date, probably not even that if it's a driver's license, and give a glance at the picture. The local cafe I frequent knows my order by heart. When they see me walk through the door they already begin making it. How do I know this? The wait time between ordering and receiving my food decreased by about the same time as it takes for me to enter and make said order. I know one of the cooks and we're getting blitzed at a Halloween party later tonight.
I participate in a D&D group weekly and I buy pizza for everyone. The pizza place knows my number when I call it in on the same day and about the same time every week.

I can beat that. Back when I was drinking quite a lot, I'd frequent the shady Korean liquor store near me run by this guy and his wife. One morning I went in and got a handle of tequila plus some other stuff - wife rung me up. I was back the next morning, set another handle up on the counter.
"oh... this uh... no good. you okay? why... uh... why you do dis?"
Told her I was having a party, which was true in a party for one person kind of way. Definitely kept going back anyway, though - they were the only place in town that kept the original Four Loko in stock.

At a different one I walked in, saw this black guy finish scratching off a lotto ticket, then yell out "AWW HELLL NAWWW". People are a lot friendlier here in general, I think. I remember randomly carding some British girl at a liquor store that I used to work at and she was really chatty and kept saying that it was her last day in the USA and that she didn't want to go back. It didn't really impact me at the time but when I read about how cold European people are compared to us, I realize the experience of randomly chatting up a clerk must have been something that she hadn't experienced before or had little experience with.

>That sounds like fun, I have to work unfortunately. Would you like your receipt?

Whereas when I lived in Europe literally none of that would have happened. They might have made some guttural grunts and thats it. It honestly does make a difference, even if I know she doesn't give a fuck about my day or my plans, just that small bit of decent service goes a long way.

i have a lot of regulars who come by when they know i will be there and they know they will be left alone. i learned this from our clientele within a long time of experience. while these people are typically outliers, i know i'm accommodating them well enough since they keep coming back, and that's the best feeling i get out of running my business.

What the fuck is wrong with you autists?

>Go to local Paki run chicken shop relatively often
>Guys there start to recognise me
>Really friendly
>Random chit chat here and there
>I ask about how their shift is going
>They ask me about work and family
>friends.jpg
>Chinky virus shuts everything down and puts the country in lockdown
>I grow hair out
>Go to shop after lockdown lifts
>Guys at the shop say I look like a bollywood hero
>Start calling me Hero Bhai (brother hero? idk, bhai means brother)
>tfw every time I walk in the shop one of them yells out HERO BHAI IS HERE
>start getting ridiculous discounts
>paying £5 for £9 worth of food and shit
>free drinks
>still called hero bhai after haircut
>tfw based paki chicken shop friends

Idk why you retards run away from these kind of experiences, I don't have any friends like presumably most of you and I really appreciate talking to these guys like they're my mates.

>>16923481
lmao, no, not at all. The only thing braindead managers force on their cashiers, besides basic manners, is to sell the store card and get their phone number for rewards.

However, I can tell by your total lack of empathy that you are also an autistic retard. I know, from experience and empathy, that being a cashier or server is a lonely, thankless job. A cashier might, over an 8-hour shift, see at least 200-300 customers, if not double that. That's 1500-2100 customers a week, every week. People turn into a faceless stream of assholes and strangers. However, if you start to recognize someone in that stream, it can be very comforting. It grounds you. Cashiers are people too, you stupid faggot. They get lonely. They want to reach out and make connections to someone who might also recognize them. Not only that, but the things people buy tend to be pretty unique, even at faceless monolithic corporations. You might be the only customer that week who gets their tendies with two barbecues and insists on it every time. You might be the only person at starbucks who gets an iced coffee at around 4:15 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. People pick up on those patterns and they start to recognize you. It's their job to ring you up, to start seeing you by their order.

They aren't being fake or disingenuous, this isn't some corporate mandate, it's literally basic human behavior and you retards can't even handle that. This is why you belong on the labor farm. It's not because you're awkward, it's because you lack basic empathy, and by this point it's unlikely that you'll ever fucking have it. So what good are you, if you can't even function as a part of the group? If we were bees or ants, you would have been smothered by a swarm and then unceremoniously dumped a few feet away from the colony. Be gracious that you're a human and were allowed to wither on the vine for this fucking long.

It's not so much that it's 'fake nice'.
Rather, it's 'fast nice' I guess you could say, with a little side of almost Japanese style ganbatte.
What I mean is they're not asking for your life story, they're saying ganbatte in question form.
Ex:
>How's your day going?
if good:
>Goin' good. How about yourself?
>blah blah
>end of conversation
if bad:
>Meh, could be worse.
or
>Oh, alright I guess, all things considered.
etc
In which case, the person asking would have a short reply like
>Hey I know how it goes.
>yea I feel that.
or maybe just a subtle nonverbal look denoting the same.
Anyhow, my point is it's actually a more subtle and intricate thing than it's usually given credit for, and this fact never gets talked about at all, since American culture isn't as rigid and formalized as Japanese culture. No one ever thought to write it down or try to explain it to foreigners.
