We had the same meals on those days too, along with chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy every Tuesday. That was over 15 years ago. Today kids get served food worse than what convicts get.

They do have that good stuff now. It's now plant-based, gluten-free, allergen-free, low sodium, vegan, low-fat, fair-trade certified, rainforest-alliance certified, and certified by religions. The kids don't even know and they wolf the stuff down. The food is healthier and better now. Just don't let the hot foods get cold because they aren't good that way. The texture is identical when hot, though. The veggies still suck though mostly because they sit in the warming tray too long after coming out of the steamer. A smaller batch rotation would be good but we are understaffed right now.

Imagine thinking your school lunches were actually good. I went to middle and high school in a pretty good area and most of the cafeteria food was so shitty I would either have a bagel, a turkey and cheese sandwich, or pizza every single day there. All of the food was Aramark tier garbage and the lunch ladies never actually cooked anything, they just heated shit up. Fuck school lunches. I was happy when I brought food from home.

it always sucked now they just don't even dump chemicals in it to taste good. Schools are literally on the same level as prisons for food. I got to see the change so I won't really participate in the "it used to be so epic" because it was still bad, just got a different kind of bad once they tried to make it seem healthy (ie not blatant junk food, just incredibly bland nothing food)

the quality difference is fucking astonishing compared to the dogshit i used to eat in america

I know you are meme'ing but school lunch is really fucked up in many places. I was lucky enough to go to a highschool where they had a salad bar and build-your-own deli sandwiches, and stir-fry on certain days. In my junior high we had a full kitchen classroom with like 10 stations and we made fucking puppychow and chocolate chip cookies. We never even cut a fucking cucumber or made noodles. Never touched raw chicken. All that expensive equipment, for what? Chexmix? Food x School needs a huge overhaul.
