Do you buy any pantry staples online, or is all your shopping at brick and mortar stores? I feel like there's a good market for bulk, high quality unrefrigerated goods shipped directly to customers without having to sit on the shelf of a brick and mortar store and pay into that markup.

Stuff like flour, spices, salt, pepper, oats, grains, beans, maybe even liquids like oils and maple syrup. Does anybody purchase these online, and if so, from where?

You won't ever use even 30% of that. Or you're a spice junkie doing dry rubs every day.

I did something similar back in late 2019. did a couple of online orders from a bulk supplier. I've still got large amounts of smoked paprika, garlic powder, sage, mustard, cocoa powder, ground coriander, oregano, basil, rosemary, union powder.

Not him, but for where I bought it from in bulk, it cost as much to buy 250g, 500g or even a whole kilo of some of the spices/herbs than it would cost to be a 40g packet in a supermarket. Example, I bought 500g of dried sage for $5 AUD. It costs $2.60 at the store for TWENTY grams of dried ground sage or $3 for 10g of fresh leaves. I got 500g of Dried Oregano. Best price in the store is $2.73 for 60grams. Basil was $3.60 for 500g vs $1.80 for 15 grams in the store ffs.
And it's all still as good as it was when I first bought them. The meme about dried herbs "losing taste" is wrong, just keep them in the right container.

I'm sure there is some taste loss but it's negligible and spices are still usable for years. But upwards of 3-5 years it might become a little less potent.

Or he’s Indian and will go through it in 2 weeks.
Go visit a import poomarket sometime; most of the spices are in bags like that.

I’m grateful for sensible posters. Thank you for putting that usury supporter in its place.

Where do you guys get your spices online? How do you store them long term so they won’t spoil so quickly?

I tried using panty staples, but they chafe, so it's really better to take the extra time to sew up the holes.

I sometimes buy stuff online but I've found myself doing it less since C19 made everything more expensive, like spam and sardines. I also used to buy Asian stuff like tsuyu online but now I have to go to Asian markets because a lot of imported stuff is now watered down, sometimes literally.

Spices aren't rocks, man. They lose a ton of their aroma and flavor within a year.
