What's the best sparkling water? I tried LaCroix the other week since I'm bored of just water and tea.
It's better than I expected but I'm sure there's something better

>> No.16831759

Polar Seltzer has the best carbonation for a brand I can find most places.
But the best is getting a carbonator.

The sparkling water you make yourself with well water, of course. Going to add a vanilla bean to my next batch.

Second the Polar. They go flat fast but the flavors are superior. As far as just plain sparking I love me a Topo Chico. God tier and the lime one rocks. Carbonation lasts forever.

Just plain, I think adding fruit flavor to seltzer ruins it

5 gallons of homemade sparkling water costs me probably 10 cents compared to 30-40 dollars. Initial startup costs are about 100-150. You start saving money after a couple months max.

I'm out here trying to help people save big money and you're just being an obese dweeb slobbering all over threads. Get with it, bucko.

>> No.16832961

Tapo chico, Perrier, or S.Pelegrino only in glass bottles because plastic ruins the carbonation and changes the flavor

No one is going to go buy a 1/6 barrel keg, a trigger tap, a micromatic keg tap and a Co2 tank just to carbonate their own water and save money "in the long run", my man.

No one. That's some Dwight Schrute shit.

Your setup looks crusty and gross, too. If someone offered me "homemade sparkling well water" from the world's oldest tanks and used beer keg, I would start searching for the nearest exit

It's only like that because I bought it all at auction for stupendously cheap. 300 for 10 regulators, 10 keg taps, and a nitrogen mixer, and the keg. I think 75 for 10 taps or something.

Everything that needs to be clean is clean. I don't think many people understand the value of carbonating their own water using a keg and co2 tank, which is why I'm here. I appreciate you proving my point, bub.

A more sane person would buy a corne keg and maybe something smaller than a 5 gallon one, but I got the sanke keg for free with the other stuff I bought.

His point is that most people would not feel comfortable drinking from your setup, and I agree. Its fine that you bought it stupendously cheap, although that allays no one's concerns about the sanitariness of it.

Oh noooo. The outside looks a little dirty.

I cleaned everything better than you clean your dishes before eating with them.
Multiple rinses/soaks using powdered brewery wash for everything. It gets used daily, so although it may look a little janky it's very clean. Remember it's water that's running through it. Not beer.

Beer is likely cleaner than your well water my guy.

>> No.16833225

>>16833206
I mean strictly speaking beer is "cleaner" than city tap water as well just because it has to initially be sterile for a consistent product to be produced.

12, 12oz. Cans is roughly 1.1 gallons. If you had a 5 gallon keg you could have saved at least $24 on sparkling water and that's including any flavoring you want.

Take the leap brother. The keg life is worth it.

Yep. Today wells are a little different. You dig down to the aquifer layer. I think my well is something like 200 feet. I'm under a major recharge zone, so I get about 14 gpm and no restriction on usage. One time I had a leak I didn't notice and ended up running through something like 40k gallons of water. My electric bill was a little more expensive that month.

The water has such a high mineral content it's difficult to actually dissolve all of them. 20% Daily of both calcium and magnesium. Truly a miraculous water.

Try other flavors
La Croix is all over the place on a per-flavor basis (absolutely avoid lemon)
Right now I'm big on the peach pear stuff
