In 2009 2.3 million Amerimutt families suffered from food insecurity. They had poor or no access to... supermarkets.

In 2019 that rose to 10.5% of all households. The figure is double for black people, triple for people below the poverty line and single-mom families. Post-rona 23% of Amerimutt households face food insecurity.

My Town used to have one a few years ago. The place had its own produce section and a lot of people used to go to it. Then some retarded boomer took the whole place over and fired everyone that was working there and replace them with a bunch of high schoolers. He got rid of almost half the products they were selling. The place only lasted for a few months when the guy took over and they shut the whole place down after it being there for 20+ years. The place is now a gym so at least the building's being used for something.

Correct. Believe it or not, not everyone can afford a car, and taking the bus to a suburban supermarket and back could take a couple hours, assuming that you even have a way to carry a week's worth of groceries for your family.

But that's not to suggest that everyone in the inner city is innocent either. Those corner "markets" are often also centers of EBT scams and other hustles. And the food banks... look, I'm not saying that there aren't truly poor and hungry people in America, really suffering, especially in rural areas. But on average, we probably do have the fattest "poor" in human history.
