As a non-American, when I have an American friends who ask if I want to go out with them, I tell them to bring me out to the fish fry, not to drag me to the fish pier. I can’t imagine being a person who actually likes fishing. To me, it seems like a really boring and pointless activity. I would much rather go fishing in the middle of the woods and see what I can catch.

I think that fishing is the perfect activity for people who don’t like to move around. It’s easy to sit in one spot and take in the scene and just observe nature. Most of the action happens right before your eyes, so there is no need for your brain to work too hard. If you spend any time at all at the shore, you will find that most people don’t even know what a fish looks like. You have to really look closely to notice any fish life. If you get there at the right time of year, there can be really long periods when there are hardly any fish to see. That doesn’t mean the water is empty, it just means that you won’t be seeing any fish, even if there are plenty of them. That’s the way nature wants it.

this is what i do. i order whole, frozen fish and get them shipped overnight. most companies will either use dry ice or the larger viking freezer packs and plenty of insulation.

there are plenty of good vendors, but I've mainly stuck with Fulton. I've heard good things about Riviera Seafood, but I haven't tried them yet.

i usually buy enough fish that i can make sushi or cooked filets a couple times a week. grilled collars are also good.
